Sandbox Magazine is an approachable gaming publication for cozy gamers. The magazine offers an alternative to the often male-dominated gaming media. I created all layouts in InDesign, wrote and sourced content, and created a gaming-themed crossword using CrossFire, a software for constructing crossword puzzles.

Process
I created Sandbox Magazine for the gamers who spend their mornings playing Wordle and their evenings scrolling through Pinterest for inspiration for their next Animal Crossing build. The demographic spans genders and backgrounds, yet their common desire is to feel seen in gaming media. This was the guiding principle that informed my choices through the process.
Design
Sandbox is smaller in size, designed to be tossed into a bag or curled up with in bed. It’s made to be read, scribbled in, dog-eared, and loved. Each issue closes with a gaming-themed crossword, inviting readers to leave their own mark on the pages. Sandbox Magazine carves out space in gaming media for the cozy gamers.
